Privacy
What this site measures, what it does not, and how to reach us about your data.
No ads, no advertising or social network trackers, no profiling, and nothing is sold or shared with third parties. Analytics run on our own server.
Analytics
We use a privacy-focused analytics tool that we host ourselves, to see which pages and guides people actually use. It does not follow you across other websites. Each visit records the page address, the referring site, your browser, operating system and device type, screen size, language, and the country derived from your IP address. Your IP address and browser are turned into a daily rotating identifier, and the raw IP address is not stored.
What we deliberately do not collect
Text you type into the fish search stays out of analytics: page addresses are recorded without their query string, so search terms are never sent to our analytics server. We do not collect names, email addresses or accounts, because the site has no sign-up and no user accounts.
Interaction events
Alongside page views we record a few interface events, such as opening the map or choosing a sort order. These events contain only the identifier of the element you interacted with, never anything you typed.
Cookies
The site sets one cookie, i18n_locale, and only to remember which language you chose. It carries no identifier and is not used for tracking. Analytics set no cookies at all.
Your data and your rights
The legal basis for this measurement is our legitimate interest in understanding how the guide is used, and the data is aggregate and stripped of raw IP addresses. If you would like to object, or to ask what we hold, write to us and we will respond promptly:
